Stroud League Division Five
Dursley Town 3rds 1 Cotswold Rangers 3
JOEL Stoneman showed Dursley exactly what they are missing out on with two fine goals in Cotswold Rangers’ victory over the striker’s old club at the Rec.
Having left Town in the summer following a frustrating campaign last season, the front man played a key role in helping his new club bank all three points.
Stoneman fired the visitors into a 15th-minute lead with a terrific strike, his left-footed shot curling beyond home goalkeeper Pete Dykes and into the top corner of the net.
Dursley levelled with an equally impressive goal, Mike Sims superbly bringing down a huge kick from Dykes and driving a shot beyond Rangers goalkeeper Andy Price.
Ten minutes before half-time, though, the visitors went back in front when Stoneman beat his man out wide and crossed for Simon Tandy to convert.
Although the hosts fought hard, Stoneman secured the points 15 minutes from time when he skipped past Town player-boss Robbie Cox and coolly chipped Dykes.
Dursley: P Dykes; D Minett, D French (P Cook 70), N Hart, R Cox; T Clark, R Lyon, A Pearce, M Sims, A Haddon (J Dolbear 25); J Knight.
Goals: Sims (20).
* Dursley’s first-team game at home to Ruardean Hill and reserve-team match at Kingswood were both postponed due to unfit pitches.
