STROUD and District Motor Club ran their ever popular Cotswold Clouds Classic Trial recently.

After a long day the overall event was won by John White and passenger Andy Lynn of Cholsey, clearing all but one of the tests to finish the day with only two hill points to his name.

Mike Ellis in his VW Beetle finished the highest ranking Dursley driver in 14th overall with 15 points.

He also finished first of the class six runners, taking the Landsdown Motors trophy for his efforts.

The Dursley crew of John Hamill and Graham Penny competed in class seven and they finished the day in 33rd position overall with 27 points.

For many a year the Clouds has been a popular event run on the first Sunday of February in and around the Stroud valley, being a firm favourite with competitors and spectators alike.

The event started early at the SKF factory in Stonehouse before taking on a course of approximately 75 miles in and around the Stroud valleys area.

Competitors took on up to 16 observed section climbs and special tests on some demanding slopes made ever more tricky this year due to the persistent rain throughout the month of January.
