Table Tennis: Thornbury are too good for Cam

IN DIVISION Three Thornbury C proved too strong for Cam B, beating the visitors 8-2.

Harry Prescott scored a singles win for Cam and combined with Harry Hogan to win the doubles.

Graham Eden and Len Pattison both scored maximums for the home team and Tom Lewis a brace.

Cam A entertained division leaders Woodchester D with all their players – Bob Wild, Brian McNeil and Steve Partridge – getting on the score sheet with one win apiece.

However, Ken Bridle and Roger Davis were unbeaten for the visitors in singles and doubles as they won 7-3.

Whiteshill B celebrated winning the Division Four title by beating Cam C 8-2 with still five matches remaining.

Terry and Barry Jordan each won three and Andy Taylor won two.

Mick James recorded a singles win for the visitors and combined with Alex Yeung to win the doubles.

Three wins for Jim Hurford couldn’t prevent his Randwick C team losing 7-3 at Frampton D.

All the home players – Glan Watkins, Pete Seville and Chris Philp – won two each before Pete and Chris won the doubles.

The points were shared in the Division Two match between Nailsworth A and Frampton B.

Wayne Hopkins and Dave Pugh both scored two for the home side and a very busy Alan Welsh, playing up, recorded another valuable point.

Frampton’s points came from Simon Philp and Dave Pearce with two wins each, plus the doubles.

Yet another draw meant the points were shared between Forest Green B and Pessimists.

Craig Smart was on good form for the home side with a maximum and he was assisted by John Crowther and Jimmy Haycraft with a point each.

Barry Morgan and Tim Chancellor each won twice and combined to win the doubles and secure the draw for Pessimists.

Thornbury B were well rewarded as they returned from Randwick A as 7-3 winners.

Mark Attwood won a point for the visitors, but there were two wins apiece for Gavin Rodgers and Simon Lewis.

The same two also combined to win the doubles.

Robbie Hawkins won two for the home side and the scoring was completed by Dan Ind.
