DURSLEY RC duo Tony Wooldridge and Dave Wood travelled to the wilds of Wales for the Llanbedr to Blaenavon Fell Race on Saturday.

Not for the faint-hearted, the 15-mile route has 4,500 feet of climbing with 1,400 feet of it compressed into barely a mile as runners climb Blorenge.

Wood pipped Wooldridge to the finish in 02:55:20, placing 36th position overall.

Tony Wooldridge finished in 03:04:18 in 46th place, claiming the first V60 prize.

The following day saw seven Dursley runners at the Chedworth Roman Trail.

The event is a challenging 10-mile multi-terrain race involving a river crossing around the half way mark.

Dursley were led home by new member Mark Brasier in just over 76 minutes.

Margaret Johnson was the first Dursley woman in 87 minutes dead, placing seventh in the FV45-54 category.

She was closely followed by Richard Hensman, who managed to beat Alice Lewis by 49 seconds.

Lewis could take consolation in placing first in her category.

Erica Fuller and Sarah Crabtree followed in the battling duo.

Gareth Bradbury entered the Cotswold equivalent of the Bermuda Triangle, ending with a query on his time.

The same day saw Neil Truelove running the Brighton Marathon incognito, finishing in 04:06:30, which he declared himself happy with.

Kate Browning ran the Poets Potter Trail Marathon, finishing joint first lady.

Nine Dursley runners headed west to the Forest of Dean Half Marathon.

Richard Pitts was the first Dursley runner home in an impressive 96-minute run.

Margaret Johnson had been concerned about the rising temperatures on Friday. Whether this was the cause of her inability to respond to Sue Peachy’ sprint finish only she can tell, with Peachy first Dursley woman home in 01:51:56.

Further back were Jerry and Zoe Fowler.

Dursley’s lanterne rouge was Roly Hobbs.

Three Dursley runners headed south to the Hogweed Hilly Half.

Dave Halford was first home over another challenging course, but the excitement was all about the dash for second place with Richard Hensman and Alice Cooper going all out for the line after running 13 miles.

In a shock result, Hensman beat the super speedy Lewis, who had the consolation of winning the FV55 category.

Kate Browning and Alice Lewis ran the first in the Pomphrey 5k Summer Series.

Browning ran her second slowest ever 5k time of 22:07, but still managed to place first in her category, with Lewis (22.47) second in hers.

In the series final standings, Browing was first in the F35 category.

Series Results: Kate Browning 1st V35, 7th overall.
