Cam Bulldogs 5 Dursley Town 2

PETE Holder scored twice in quick succession to help keep Cam’s title challenge on course after they were given a scare by lowly Dursley in Wednesday’s derby clash.

Goals from Dan McNally and Nathan Vines saw Town come from behind to lead on the hour before Sean Bailey equalised and Holder scored two close-range headers.

It was a game littered with errors – the first of which came after 15 minutes when Steve Hobbs’ miscued clearance allowed Aaron Nash to fire the Bulldogs ahead.

The hosts went close when Keith Watson turned an Adam Philp free-kick over the bar, while Ben Jagger did likewise from a Carl Bailey set-piece at the other end.

However, ten minutes before half-time, the Cam goalkeeper was unable to claim a hanging free-kick amid a mass of bodies and McNally’s header looped into the net.

Matt Workman cleared off the line from Philp shortly before the break and a drive from the Bulldogs striker was turned away by Watson early in the second half.

Dursley continued to launch free-kicks into the box and two opportunities fell to Jim Stevenson, who saw one effort blocked and another tipped over the bar by Jagger.

However, the visitors forged ahead on the hour when Max Pemberton inexplicably handled a cross above his head and Vines slotted home the resultant spot-kick.

Just five minutes later, though, Cam earned a free-kick on the edge of the box and Sean Bailey lifted the ball over the wall and inside Watson’s left-hand post.

McNally kicked a Philp effort off the line, but then needlessly conceded the corner from which Holder beat Watson to the punch to head the Bulldogs into the lead.

Holder was then left unmarked to nod in his second goal at the near post after the visitors had half-cleared a corner but then switched off from the return cross.

The Bulldogs added their fifth goal in injury-time when Sean Bailey centred from the left and Town substitute Antonio Forgione diverted the ball past his own goalkeeper.
