DESPITE gaining a first innings lead over Glamorgan, Gloucestershire could be left to rue not having a stronger grip on their County Championship game at the Swalec Stadium after a second day that promised so much more.
With Glamorgan resuming on 47-6, Gloucestershire looked like making short work of the tail until Graham Wagg (54*) and Michael Hogan (23) put on 73 for the final wicket to lift the hosts to 145.
Chris Dent then hit 52 to put Gloucestershire in a commanding position of 102-1, but a flurry of wickets from Dean Cosker (5-46) saw them slip to 144-6 before Tom Smith steadied the ship with an unbeaten 38 to see them through to 230-9 at the close.
