Leonard Stanley 0 Wotton 5

WOTTON scored five goals in the last 12 minutes to thrash Leonard Stanley.

A young team travelled to Leonard Stanley, consisting seven players under the age of 18.

The visitors came out of the traps quickly and could have been 2-0 up with great chances for Lee Williams and Ryan Collings that weren’t capitalised on.

The home team made a number of changes in a bid to get back into the game and the second half was a different affair with Stanley coming out with a much higher tempo to their play.

Wotton gaffer Liam Comer decided a change was in order and introduced Beric Wetton and the lively Joey Stokes.

Wetton hit the bar before a great save from the home keeper denied Stokes.

Declan Frost, who put in a heroic performance, started the scoring for the visitors when his long range effort was deflected and looped over the keeper's head.

Williams was next to get his name on the sheet when he latched on to a Frost flick and, with only the keeper to be beat, he slotted the ball through his legs.

Next came the goal of the game when a cross-field ball from Williams was met by Conway Stokes, who neatly lifted the ball over the left back's head before scissor-kicking the ball in off the crossbar.

The midfield paring of Ryan Collings and Asa Cox started to pull the strings in midfield and a perfectly placed ball out wide from Cox to Stokes resulted in a low hard driven cross, which Collings met at the front post and back-heeled past the keeper to make it four.

Leonard Stanley's humiliation was confirmed when Williams latched onto a Stokes cross and smashed home from close range to secure all three points to the visiting team.
