BUSY Forest Green boss Ady Pennock has swooped for his second signing of the day by landing midfield general Sam Wedgbury on a two-year deal from League One outfit Stevenage.

With former Welling striker Kurtis Guthrie putting pen-to-paper at lunchtime, Wedgbury became the next man through the New Lawn door to supplement the arrival of David Pipe last week.

Pennock captured the former Sheffield United, Macclesfield and England C man after he left Stevenage by mutual consent.

The 25-year-old started his career at Worcester City before a move to Sheffield United, where he spent four years without making a full a full appearance.

After spending time on loan at Hungarian giants Ferencvaros, he returned to the UK only to eventually be released by the Blades.

After signing for Macclesfied in 2010, he had a short loan spell at Altrincham, before returning to fight for his place in the Silkmen’s first team.

He went on to rack-up 100 league appearances for the Silkmen before turning down a new deal at the end of 2013 after securing a dream move back into the Football League after agreeing a deal with League One Stevenage last summer.

He started the club’s first three matches of the season at right-back, but in total made just seven appearances this campaign.

Video interviews to follow with Sam Wedgbury and boss Ady Pennock.
