JAMES Norwood has been named in the 18-man England C squad for the forthcoming International Challenge Trophy Group A match with Slovakia in Poprad on Saturday, May 24.

The 23-year-old Forest Green forward has played four times four England C and scored four goals including a hat-trick on debut in a 6-1 win in Bermuda last summer.

He also featured this season in a 1-0 loss against Lativa in Jelgava, scored a penalty to salvage a 2-2 draw with the Czech Republic in Woking and played in the 0-1 win away to Jordan in March.

The Three Lions (who comprise under 23 non-league players) travel to Slovakia for the tie on Saturday 24 May, before moving across the border for a friendly with Hungary at the Szusza Ferenc Stadium in Budapest four days later.

England C manager Paul Fairclough is keen to get his ICT campaign off to a good start against the Slovakian U23 side, but is well aware that it will not be an easy task following their recent 4-4 draw away to current champions Turkey.

There are four new faces in the squad, who will all be hoping to get their first taste of international football in the shape of Barnet defender Andy Yiadom, FC Halifax Town's Marc Roberts and Gateshead pair Marcus Maddison and James Marwood.

England C: Mitchell Walker (Dover Athletic), Andrew Coughlin (Wrexham), Danny Bradley (Alfreton Town), Andy Yiadom (Barnet), Fraser Franks (Luton Town), Marc Roberts (FC Halifax Town), Mickey Demetriou (Kidderminster Harriers), Matty Pearson (FC Halifax Town), Josh Payne (Woking), Marcus Maddison (Gateshead), Jake Gallagher (Welling United), James Marwood (Gateshead), Keanu Marsh-Brown (Barnet), Angus Macdonald (Salisbury City), David Fitzpatrick (Southport), James Norwood (Forest Green Rovers) Elliott Frear (Salisbury City), Louis Moult (Nuneaton Town).
