IT WAS a busy weekend at Dursley Bowls Club.
The women started their campaign in the National Top Club competition with a comprehensive win over Wotton-Under-Edge.
In the singles, Gill Meadows (Dursley) won by 21-13 against Rachel Winter-Alsop.
The Dursley pair of Rachel Wagstaff and Tracy Powell overpowered their opponents 41-3 and, in the triples, Kathleen Farrant, Pauline Bryant and Marilyn King won 28-9.
The Dursley rink of Liz Poskett, Mary Slee, Gwyneth Ruther and Kath Williams lost 26-11.
Dursley won by three matches to one and by 101 shots to 51.
In spite of the blustery conditions, 20 potential new bowlers went to the club's Open Day.
They spent the afternoon playing under the supervision of the club coach Meadows and other club members.
More sessions are being organised. For further enquiries contact Simon and Kathleen Farrant on 547665.
On Sunday afternoon, a friendly against the Cotswold started in the rain.
Dursley won on two rinks but lost on three.
