Cam Everside 2 Wotton Rovers 5

CAM Everside locked horns with local rivals Wotton in a double header in the battle for top spot.

In the first game, Everside had the best of the first half which saw them go two goals ahead.

Josh Taylor and Shaun Chapman gave Cam the lead with two well taken goals.

Wotton pulled a goal back just before half-time, which seemed to take the wind out of Everside’s sails.

The away side came out fighting in the second half and Cam didn’t rise to the test.

Wotton made the most of Cam’s collapse to set up a thriller in the return fixture.

A DRAW was enough for Cam to clinch top spot ahead of Wotton.

Everside’s attacking approach saw them come unstuck after being caught out at the back with a soft goal giving the home side the advantage.

The second half saw Wotton extend their lead to 2-0 when a free kick floated in the box caused confusion and the ball crept past Euan Edmunds in goal.

Captain Tom Viney rose highest from a corner to head in Cam’s first.

Callum Eldridge then levelled the score in style with a 25-yard screamer before Josh Taylor was rewarded for his hard work with a goal from close range.

A lapse in concentration saw Wotton equalise right on the final whistle but that couldn’t dampen Cam’s mood.
