THERE was a very good entry for the Ford Medal when men and ladies took part.

On a lovely late spring day, scoring was very good.

In Division One, Vern Chappell hit the heights again when he won with a nett 70, followed by Geoff Gillingham with a nett 70 also, but was beaten on countback.

In Division Two, John Davis scored an excellent nett 66 to win, and also cut his handicap by two, followed by Warren Pendred with a nett 67, and in Division Three Dave Ryan won with a nett 69, followed by Mike Simons, also with a nett 69, but beaten on countback.

In the ladies section Sue Freeland had one of her best scores when she scored a nett 65 to win from Julie Cruickshank, who scored a nett 74.

Results – Division One: 1. V Chappell 73-3=70; 2. G Gillingham 82-12=70; 3. R Rogers 82-12=70.

Division Two: 1. J Davis 84-18=66; 2. W Pendred 85-18=67; 3. D Munn 83-14=69.

Division Three: 1. D Ryan 88-19=69; 2. M J Simons 92-23=69; 3. K Traynor 91-21=70.

Ladies: 1. Sue Freeland 87-22=65; 2. Julie Cruickshank 96-22=74; 3. Lyn Smart 100-23=77.

The Seniors played for the Lawford Smith Plate, and in Division One Graham Bartlett scored 36 points to win, with James Barnes second with 32 points.

In Division Two John Morgan had a very good score of 39 points to win, with Mike Ward second with 37 points.

Results – Division One: 1. G J Bartlett 36pts; 2. J W Barnes 32pts; 3. S G Crabtree 32pts.

Division Two: 1. J Morgan 39pts; 2. M Ward 37pts, 3. J Ward 36pts.

Cotswold Edge Ladies did well to half their match against Cotswold Hills Ladies 3.5-3.5.

Results: Mel Lee beat Pam Collins; Casey Chappell beat Ali Stalsberg; Maria Sheppard lost to Pat Funey; Debbie Pringle lost to Louisa Pettit; Lynda Pearce lost to Geraldine Beatly; Michelle Craker halved Pat Fluck; Jacki Emerson beat Pam Pickthorn.

Cotswold Edge Seniors did very well when at Chippenham they won by 4.5-3.5.
