WOTTON-under-Edge based rider Adam Harris made a good start in his bid to become the first person to win three successive AMCA 2 Stroke Championships.

The Uley Motocross Club member took overall victory in the opening round, run by Hereford MXC at Boraston in Shropshire.

Harris has trained hard and is in great form.

Thirty-three riders took to the start for what turned out to be some fast and furious races.

Harris did not have it all his own way and not having the best of starts all day he had to work to get his way through his fellow riders.

It was a very hot and dusty day but he did not give up and was rewarded with two race wins in the first two races.

In the third race Harris was hoping to get a full house. With a better start this time he only had the leader in front and was right on his tail when a back marker got in the way and crashed into him.

Harris got up straight away but the leader had gone and with two laps remaining there was no time to catch up so he took second place.
