Gloucestershire Women 138 (15pts) Cambridgeshire Women 75 (2pts)
AFTER two consecutive defeats in the Middle England Bowls League, Gloucestershire stormed back to demolish Cambridgeshire by five rinks to one, which gave them a 63-shot win at Aylesbury Bowls Club.
Leading the way was the rink of Margaret Toomey (Pineholt), Veronica Richie (Olveston), Jean Crook (Stroud) and Jacky House (Stroud), who against Sue Richie opened up a 12-3 lead after ten ends and kept on piling up the shots to be ahead 20-4 after 15 ends.
In the final run-in they gained another seven shots for a 27-9 win.
Joan Surman (Cheltenham), Val Osmond (Ardagh), Ann White (Arrow) and Joy Sheward (Cheltenham Whaddon) took control of the match against Val Hughes when they went from 4-4 to win five consecutive ends to lead 14-4.
Seven more shots came in the next five ends and they powered home for a 25-12 win.
Jenny Westlake (Arrow), Jenny Stansfield (Moreton), Margaret McColl (Cheltenham) and Sue Latham (Olveston) were always in charge against Doreen Smith having gained an early 8-2 advantage.
They then moved to lead 13-3 and by the 15th end were in total control, winning 21-5. Another six shots saw a 27-12 win.
Val Webb (Victory Park), Joyce Ferson (Barnwood), Mavis Kennedy and Gill Fry (both Gloucester Spa) opened up a 12-5 lead over Doreen Miller and, although they were only two shots ahead after 15 ends, they pulled away with a flurry of ten shots for a 24-14 win.
Rita Gerry (Moreton), Kay Williams (GB Britton), Julia Stannard (Nailsworth) and Lindsay Collin (Page Ladies), up against Pauline Ayres, seized an 11-8 lead at halfway and then, from being four shots ahead after 15 ends, turned up the heat to win 21-12.
Pam Ayres (Cirencester), Di Wilson (Olveston), Jeanette Scott (Cheltenham) and Rachel Hughes (Royal Forest of Dean) were unable to make it a clean sweep against Sue Alexander when they went down in a tight contest 16-14.
