Woodpeckers (182) lost to Cam (197) by 15 runs

CAM travelled to Woodpeckers on Saturday and came away with what seemed an unlikely victory.

With the Woodpeckers score at 148-3 with 20 overs remaining Cam looked dead and buried, but two wickets in two overs changed the course of the game and inspired victory.

After being asked to bat Adam Holloway fell early to a lazy shot.

Stuart Newman soon followed after being caught at slip.

Ben Williams was dismissed in a similar fashion to Holloway, leaving Cam 58-3.

Pete Hall and Tom Deakin began to rebuild the innings and took the the score to 100-3 at drinks before Hall (29) and Glover were removed in consecutive balls.

Deakin (29), along with Jake Dolbear, both batted patiently and maintained a steady flow of runs.

The the 30th over saw Deakin miss a full toss and he was bowled for 29.

Alex Ballard added a quick 29, a common score throughout the day, with a couple of big maximums before being caught with five overs to go.

Ali Longden and George Dolling continued to tick the runs over with Dolling finding a couple of big boundaries to get Cam up to 197 before being caught and bowled with two balls left in the innings.

The opening overs for Woodpeckers saw both batsmen play very aggressively before Dolling made the breakthrough.

Dave Griffiths soon followed as he was caught and bowled by Dolling, who claimed his third wicket straight after.

Cockburn tried to take on the bowling once too often and with the target looking comfortably in reach was caught on the boundary by Glover from the bowling of Hall.

The following over Alex Ballard took his first wicket key batsman Andrew Ruxton was dismissed for 54 with a catch by Dolling on the boundary.

It still looked an uphill task for Cam but a rush of blood to the head which saw Hall have Jack Taylor stumped by Dolbear for 13.

Two wickets soon followed as Hall claimed 4-28.

Ballard came back into the attack and in the space of three overs he took two wickets, giving Cam victory.
