KINGSWOOD-based archer Chloe Ball will represent Great Britain at the Para European Championships.

The teenager, who is a member of Chipping Sodbury-based Cleve Archers, is currently in action at the Para Grand Prix in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic, and the same team will be travelling to Nottwill in Switzerland from July 25 to August 3.

Still relatively new to the international stage, Ball is competing in the W1 category along with Jo Frith, experienced archer John Cavanagh and John Walker in the competition, which started on Tuesday and finishes on Sunday.

The tournament is a Para Archery World Ranking Event, meaning that a points system will determine the ranking of athletes from across the world in their particular discipline.

Ball switched from wheelchair racing and tennis in her early teens to archery and is now training at Lilleshall.

She won both gold and silver in the W1 mixed team event at her first international event in Bangkok earlier this year and secured her place on the team after going through Archery GB’s W1 Talent Project.

Michael Peart, Paralympic coach at Archery GB, said: “We have got a very strong team for the Para Grand Prix and other para tournaments this year.

"There is a huge amount of medal potential in the squad, from our experienced Paralympians as well as younger athletes coming up through our Performance Academies.

"The team are working well together to help each other improve their shooting.”

Great Britain have been given a milestone target of three to five medals at the Para European Championships by UK Sport.
