STROUD and District’s AC’s 2014 Frampton 10k race was held last week and saw 12 Dursley Running Club members on the start line.

The lineup included stalwarts such as Kevin Jackson and David Saunders as well as new members Debi Jones, Becky Court and Nicola Cowle.

As ever the Frampton race proved very popular with the roads around Frampton and Arlingham choked with runners.

The Dursley runners were greeted by some vociferous support as they neared the finish line and this led a number to kick hard for home, improving both their times and placings.

Kevin Jackson was first home for the club, with a fine run just over 40 minutes, with Dave Wood, enjoying his annual foray on to the road second in.

Dave Saunders was third home for the club, despite having run the Charmouth Challenge on Saturday, and was second MV65, maintaining his challenge in the Glos AAA Road Race series.

Dave Halford posted an impressive time of 45:35, showing his training for the Robin Hood Marathon is paying dividends.

Zoe Lammerton was the first woman home for Dursley, followed in by Sue Peachy with Moira Woodward third home; she was closely followed by new members Becky Court and and Debi Jones, who were just a matter of seconds behind.

Nicola Cowle was the club's Lanterne Rouge, putting in a great effort to finish in just of 67 minutes.

Results: Kevin Jackson 50th, 40:32; Dave Wood 71st, 41:57; Dave Saunders 99th (2nd MV65), 43:40; Dave Halford 135th, 45:35; John Delafield 182nd, 47:39; Zoe Lammerton 201st, 43:40; Sue Peachy 255th, 51:30; Steve Peers 265th, 52:00; Moira Woodward 391st, 01:00:12; Becky Court 395th, 01:00:18; Debi Jones 399th, 01:00:42; Nicola Cowle 445th, 01:07:27.

Dave Saunders was the only entrant from Dursley Running Club in this year's Charmouth Challenge, the most southerly fell race in England.

The event saw another excellent performance from the Dursley veteran, finishing 71st out of 234 finishers, and whilst his time was slightly down on 2013 he moved up two places in his age category.

Result: Dave Saunders 71st (4th MV60), 01:15:12.

The Wednesday before this event had seen Bath Amphibians' Monster Duathon take place.

The event starts with a two-mile run followed by a ten-mile bike, then the participants repeat the run and bike sections before finishing with another run over the same distances.

Jerry Fowler, Rob Woodward and Fred Yearsley from Dursley Running Club were on the start line.

However, Ironman Yearsley only completed the first two elements.

Fowler was quicker on foot and through the transitions than Woodward, the latter pulling back time on the bike.

Fowler finished 74th overall and 13th in the Supervet category in a time of 01:47:54, with Woodward just behind him in 84th position, third Supervet 60 in an overall time of 01:49:51, no doubt ruing the time spent in the transition zones.

Results: Jerry Fowler 14:34 (Run 1), 51.0 (T1), 27:57 (Bike 1), 50.8 (T2), 15.49 (Run 2), 55.2 (T3), 29.47 (Bike 2), 56.5 (T4), 16.15 (Run 3); Rob Woodward, 16:10,,01:18, 26:33, 01:21, 17:38, 01:21, 27:00, 01:12, 17:14; Fred Yearsley, 14:41, 01:00, 26:06, 01:06, DNF.

Mark Brazier had travelled over to complete the Snowdonia Trail Half and finished in an excellent 25th position out of a field of 389 runners in a time of 01:49:00.

Graham Tudor completed the Gloucester 10k. Aiming for sub one-hour, he cruised over the line in 55:24, finishing 261st out of 456 runners.

Francesca Amigioni completed the Evesham 10k 169th in 49:32, eighth senior woman in a field of 565.

Paul Rogers completed the Race for Life 10k at Mote Park in Maidstone, supporting Cancer Research with many others.
