THE County Singles Final will be a repeat of last year with reigning champion Keith Hinder of Dursley up against Lee Williamson (Cheltenham) after both players won their semi-final matches at Wotton-under-Edge BC.

Hinder, up against Vince Wilks (Gloucester City), gained a 6-1 lead after four ends before the scoreline was back to 6-5 two ends later.

The gap went to four shots before a three put Wilks one behind at 10-9 and then, having drawn level, he lost the lead on the 16th end to be 14-13 down.

Wilks then won the next three ends to gain five shots and a four shot advantage.

Hinder, digging deep, grabbed two twos and two singles to be just one shot away from the final.

Wilks, not giving in, gained a single to bring the scores to 20-19 before Hinder gained victory on the 25th end with a two with the score 22-19.

The final will be held on Sunday, July 28 at Olveston Bowls Club and in August at the National Championships at Leamington Spa.
