A REMARKABLE last-wicket partnership between Liam Norwell and Craig Miles restored some pride for Gloucestershire against northern neighbours Worcestershire on a record-breaking day at the Cheltenham Festival.

Norwell hit 78, the highest ever score by a Gloucestershire number 11, while number ten Miles finished unbeaten on 62 in a 139-run stand, which was also a new club record for a tenth wicket stand, to delay Worcestershire's celebrations.

Their heroics ensured County Championship Division Two leaders Worcestershire had to bat again with Gloucestershire eventually all out for 289 and they swiftly reached their target of 50 with eight wickets to spare.

Miles was making his first appearance of the season after returning from a back injury and took 5-90 in Worcestershire's first innings total of 395 with Daryl Mitchell's unbeaten 167 putting the visitors in control.

Gloucestershire were made to follow-on after being all out for just 156 in their first innings, and once again it could have been worse had it not been for the tailenders, Tom Smith finishing with 41 not out as they added 88 for the last two wickets.
