WOTTON Rovers under-12 girls entered the popular Bristol Academy tournament last weekend with teams from all over the country participating.

The tournament was a league format, in which Wotton finished unbeaten having won six and drawn three.

Great defending from Emma Foxwell, Amy McCorkell and Lucy Lloyd saw the team concede just two goals in their nine games– the best in the tournament – and superb link up play from Jasmine Bull, Anna Symanowski and Connie Watt meant attackers Hannah Dix and Paige Todd were able to get goals for themselves, the latter scoring four in an eight-minute game.

Despite seeming to dominate every game they finished just behind Leyton Orient Advanced Soccer School, who equalised in the last minute against the run of play when the teams faced each other.

Wotton Rovers Girls are still looking to recruit more players for next season, particularly those at secondary school.
