HOT on the heels of her gold success at the National Road Circuit Championships, Berkeley-based cyclist Pfeiffer Georgi took silver in the National Youth Omnium Track Championships in the under-14 girls’ category.
Held at Welwyn Garden City’s outdoor velodrome, the 13-year-old Castle School pupil, riding for Giant CC Halo Films, exhibited great tactical riding to win the Elimination Race, one of the five events comprising the Omnium.
Her brother Etienne, who also attends The Castle School, produced the most crowd pleasing win of the day in his Scratch Race of the under-16 boys’ category – his first win at national level.
Making a big effort with four laps to go, Etienne held off the entire field to produce a solo win.
His luck ran out in the Points Race as he crashed heavily but remarkably got straight back up having quickly borrowed a friend’s helmet and contested the next sprint.
Both now look forward to representing England South Region on the track in the School Games at Manchester Velodrome in September.
