ON SATURDAY the first round of Stinchcombe Hill's Club Championship was played.

Heavy rain in the morning followed by hail and thunder in the afternoon made playing conditions difficult.

However, some scores were extremely good with Pete Williment leading the nett scores with 74-10=64, followed by Glenn Seer (77-12=65) and Rich Lamper (71-6=65).

The best gross score was Mark Pitcher with 66, followed by Nigel Clarke and Rich Lamper, both on 71.

The second round on Sunday saw a pleasant sunny day, but with a difficult wind which made scoring difficult.

Mark Pitcher sustained his form, shooting a 70 gross ensure his position as club champion with 136 gross over the two days.

Second was his father Nick Pitcher with 147 gross and third was Rhod Bradley-Jones on 148.

The nett was won by Glen Seer with 132, with Nick Pitcher second on 133 and Rhod Bradley-Jones third on 134.

Stinchcombe Hill senios played Bath last week and won 3-2.

The successful pairings for Stinchcombe were Richard Lane and Adrian Aldridge (5&3), Martin Chubb and Chris Cooke (5&3), Keith Tocknell and Paul Jess (half), Jeff Farrow and Terry Munday (1up) and Keith Vinton and Don Bull (half).

Stinchcombe seniors played Bristol & Clifton away, losing 3-2.

Their winners were Jim Ball and John Sweet (1up) and Richard Parkin and Jeff Farrow (4&2).

On Saturday, the A team played Lilley Book at home in the North Glos Foursomes league, winning 4-2.

Stinchcombe winners were Brian Moulder and Mark Pitcher (half), Rich Lamper and Nick Pitcher (3&1), Nigel Clarke and David Foulkes (4&3), James Cantwell and Chris Walker (6&5) and Andy Best and John Hindshaw (half).
