Frampton-on-Severn (207-5) beat Kingsholm (101) by 106 runs

FRAMPTON are now in a fight for second place with Cirencester after making it six wins from their last seven games against Kingsholm.

Winning the toss, the visitors chose to bowl.

Jason Huxstep and Dustin Burt took to the wicket and found the going hard as Sam Wheeler and Ben Cambridge bowled a good length on a green and damp wicket.

With a change of bowling the batsman went on the attack and the rewards came with both players regularly finding the boundary.

Michael Strong steadied the ship with some tight lines and Ross Tominey was the first to take a wicket with Huxstep getting stumped by Boon for a superb 51, including six fours and one six in a season-best opening stand of 95.

As often happens Burt fell soon after for 49 with six fours and one six.

Tom Warren and Matt Cayless joined each other in the 33rd over and the fireworks started with Cayless taking the lead.

James Markey took the brunt of the onslaught with Cayless smashing 21 off one over on his way to a quick-fire 64, including nine fours and two sixes.

Warren remained undefeated on 32 asFrampton posted an excellent 207-5.

Kingsholm started positively but lost Ryan McGhee to a catch behind from Nick Peacey off Cayless.

Dan Hudson perished for four, caught by Dillon Sheppard at mid-wicket.

Barnard showed some resistance but Cayless grabbed a cracking caught and bowled to leave Kingsholm on 45 off their first 16 overs.

Michael Strong and Markey both holed out to catches from Craig Barnfield and the end looked in sight.

John Veits was next to go, caught in the deep by Calum Nicholson.

The last resistance came to an end with James Boon run out by Barnfield.

Cayless and Jake Hayward claimed three wickets apiece, while Nick Peacey took three sharp catches behind the stumps.
