Gloucestershire (379-3) beat Somerset (234) in first innings

AN OUTSTANDING 223-run partnership between Winterbourne's James Bracey (107) and George Hankins (179*) gave Gloucestershire a win on first innings against Somerset at Newent.

Coming together with the score on 36, they alone passed Somerset’s total from the previous day.

Having lost the toss, Gloucestershire chipped away and eventually bowled the visitors out in 109 overs.

Ollie Currill once again bowled with heart and accuracy to bag 2-34 off 18 overs, George Haynes (Downend) picked up 2-34 off 19 and Dominic Hooper got the last three wickets to bag 3-14 off 7.1 overs.

Gloucestershire (182-5) beat Somerset (178-9) by five wickets

A DOMINANT display by Gloucestershire saw them complete a convincing victory over local rivals Somerset in the final round of games of the Royal London one-day competition.

The four-pronged spin attack of George Haynes (Downend), George Hankins (Bath), Sam Summerfield (Thornbury) and Benny Ellis Dubrowski (Charlton Kings) were architects of the win, sharing seven of the nine wickets to fall as Somerset were restricted to a below par score of 178.

Hankins completed a fine all-round performance, backing up his 2-36 off ten overs to score a fine 40.

He was well supported by Callum Loud (29), Ben Hopkins (30) and Dan Lezar (22) before Ben Slade and Dominic Hooper finished the job.

Wales U14s (108-5) beat Gloucestershire U13s (107) by five wickets

GLOUCESTERSHIRE lost a close game against Wales at Newport.

At 72-3 after 26 overs, it looked like a score of 130 would be posted, but a late collapse saw Gloucestershire bowled out in the last over.

Undeterred by the low score, Gloucestershire bowled and fielded with skill and tenacity. Jacob Reeves (Brislington) made the breakthrough in the first over and the pressure mounted with Sujan and Daaryoush Ahmed (Bristol YMCA) reducing Wales to 27–4 in the 13th over, but they reached their target with 17 balls to spare.
