Cheltenham Civil Service (115) lost to Frampton-on-Severn (118-5) by five wickets

FRAMPTON travelled to Cheltenham Civil Service with a full strength team and toppled the champions' unbeaten record this season.

Losing the toss, Frampton were asked to bowl and Dan Huxstep soon found success, bowling the in-form George Leadbetter for eight.

Robbie Baker was next to go after an lbw shout turned into an appeal for a catch at first slip, which was given by the umpire.

Adrian Mayes and Mike Barrett dug in but Barrett was bowled by Dan Halsey for nine, leaving the home team on a woeful 43-3 off 19 overs.

Captain Craig Baker played positively but lost partner Mayes lbw to Halsey for top score of 24.

Brad Attwood showed some real fight against some tight bowling and together with Baker put on 25 before the latter was caught behind by Nick Peacey for 11.

After Attwood succumbed to the same fate off Tom Warren the tail crumbled, leaving Civil Service on a well-below par 115 all out.

Warren claimed 4-23 with Halsey taking 3-23.

Mike Barrett and Steve Bridge opened the bowling against Lee Driver-Dickerson (34*) and Jason Huxstep but neither could break the partnership until a bowling change found Huxstep playing a rash shot to Jack Harrod at mid-off from James Hill for seven.

Jack Edge joined Driver-Dickerson but found the going tough as spinner Leadbetter complemented the speed of Hill.

With the score on 49, Driver-Dickerson (29) was given out caught behind after much deliberation from the umpires bringing the in-form Warren to the wicket.

His innings was short lived though after his stumps were demolished by Hill for a duck.

Matt Cayless took on the bowling attack and found success from the start with Edge (39) playing his part, taking 13 off one over from Harrod to turn the game in Frampton’s favour.

With the total on 111, Nelson claimed two wickets before Cayless finished the innings with the only six of the game to end Cheltenham’s unbeaten run in style.
