Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division One

FC Barometrics 7 Dursley Town 0

DURSLEY’S impressive start to the season came to a crashing halt as they were comprehensively outplayed by a rampant FC Barometrics side in Cheltenham.

Without Kyle Ward, Josh Hill and Pete Dykes, Town appeared a pale imitation of the side that had taken seven points from a possible nine in their opening three matches.

The visitors gave a debut to Adam Philp following his midweek transfer from Cam and he could have scored a 15th-minute opener, but put his free header wide.

Instead, the home side soon forged ahead and they never looked in any danger thereafter as few Dursley players did themselves justice on a torrid afternoon.

Dursley: K Watson; S Hobbs (T Deakin 55), Craig Bailey, R Swift, J Stevenson; L Jones, L Thomas, M Humphrey, C Mills (C Wilkins 80); B Goncalves (J Redbond 60), A Philp.

Stroud League Division Two

Dursley Town Res 4 Tibberton United 1

JACK Knight made it four goals in two games as Dursley got their season off and running with a comfortable victory against visiting Tibberton at the Rec.

Town took a 15th-minute lead when Jordan Warner ran at the defence as he cut in from the left wing and beat the goalkeeper with a well-placed shot.

Knight doubled the advantage ten minutes later when he also skipped past a couple of challenges before stroking an assured finish into the net.

Tibberton could have been buried by the break, but they rallied in the second half and stand-in goalkeeper Chris Bird did well to keep the hosts on top.

Player-boss Antony Nash scored Dursley’s third goal with 20 minutes left after being set-up by the marauding Dan French, although the visitors soon pulled a goal back.

However, Town immediately hit back themselves as Thiala Clark burst through to drill a shot against the post and Knight followed-up to round-off a fine victory.

Dursley: C Bird; J Dolbear (S Pearson 80), D French, D Clark, J Bartman; T Clark, G Penlington, Antony Nash, J Warner; J Bennett (J Hazelwood 70), J Knight.

Goals: Warner (15), Knight (25 & 75), Nash (70).

* In Division Five, Dursley thirds were beaten 7-1 by their visiting Hardwicke counterparts with Alex Griffith scoring the solitary goal for the home side.

Town gained their first point of the season last Wednesday evening when Andy Haddon scored in a 1-1 draw at home to Coaley Rovers Reserves.
