Shortwood 2 North Nibley 2
NORTH Nibley started their first season in the North Glos Veterans League with a tough trip to Shortwood.
Missing some key players, Nibley started the game poorly and went 2-0 down after 15 minutes with individual mistakes in the defence costing them dear.
This spurred Nibley into action and could have easily resulted in a goal before half-time with good chances for Darren Richards and Steve Jones.
The second half started much better for Nibley with the midfield of Chris Thomson, Steve Jones and Wayne Whitlock getting on top and, after 60 minutes, a ball over the top was slotted home at the second attempt by Richards.
Nibley piled on the pressure and they were rewarded with an equalising goal and a share of the points five mins from time when Simon Lloyd latched on to a through ball and smashed home from 10 yards out.
This was a great team effort and a good start the league campaign.
