ALEX Gidman could come up against the county he has served for 13 years next season after Gloucestershire were drawn in the same group as Worcestershire in the Royal London Cup.

The Nevil Road outfit have been placed in Group A of next year’s one-day competition with Durham, who beat Warwickshire in the 2014 final at Lord’s on Saturday, and county champions Yorkshire, while they also have local derbies to look forward to against Somerset and Worcestershire, who have agreed to sign Gidman at the end of the season.

Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Northants and Surrey are the other teams in the group with the exact fixtures to be confirmed later in the year.

Gloucestershire reached the quarter-finals of the competition this year before being beaten by Kent, who they are playing at Canterbury in their final County Championship game of the season, which starts on Tuesday.
