Stroud Charity Cup Section B Round One
Tredworth Tigers 3 Dursley Town Res 0
TREDWORTH’S Jordan Doig-Davies scored a stunning opener and Lee Dyer added a late double as Dursley finally succumbed after 70 goalless minutes in Gloucester.
Both sides had several chances in the first period with Town’s Jay Rebond forcing Jack Stokes into a good save, while Luis Da Silva had a goal ruled out for offside.
The hosts were also denied by the assistant’s flag after the break, before Dursley player-manager Antony Nash shot against the outside of the post when going clear.
Doig-Davies broke the deadlock with 20 minutes left as he caught Keith Watson off his line with a first-time shot after the ball broke loose just inside the Town half.
Jake Mears came very close to a tremendous equaliser, his 25-yard angled drive looking destined for the top corner until Stokes somehow turned it onto the bar.
The save rather took the wind out of Dursley’s sails and Dyer scored twice in the last ten minutes, belting a 20-yard drive through a crowd before breaking from halfway.
Dursley: K Watson; J Dolbear, C Wilkins, L Jones, J Bartman; J Mears, A Baker, G Penlington, Antony Nash (J Aldridge 80); L Da Silva (T Clark 65), J Redbond.
* In round one of their respective county cups, Dursley firsts had a bye, while the third team had a walkover following the withdrawal of their Avonvale counterparts.
