Stroud League Division Two

AC Royals 3 Dursley Town Res 1

THIALA Clark’s spectacular strike and Keith Watson’s penalty save were not enough to earn Dursley a first away point of the season as AC Royals fought back to win.

Clark hit a 15th-minute opener when Chris Wilkins’ long throw was only half-cleared and the winger fired a first-time shot over the goalkeeper from the corner of the area.

Royals levelled when Adam Smith was tripped in the box, Watson turned Adie Howarth’s spot-kick against the underside of the bar and Rory Thomas followed up to score.

Ben Foxwell curled a superb shot into the top corner to complete the turnaround before half-time and Smith poked in a third as Town struggled in the second period.

Trident 6 Dursley Town 3rds 4

DURSLEY suffered a second consecutive loss by the same high scoreline as they spent most of the afternoon chasing the game against their Gloucester opponents.

Trident took a two-goal lead and had further efforts disallowed before Chris Hyam lifted the ball over the goalkeeper and Paul Cook netted with a trademark free-kick.

However, the visitors were not level for long as Trident added three more goals around the half-time interval before Hyam notched his second of the afternoon.

The hosts restored their three-goal cushion, although Town had the final word when Ash Pearce blasted in a spectacular left-footed strike in off the crossbar.

Dursley: L Devries; D Minett, J Aldridge, P Cook, J Hazlewood; P Biba, J Minett, A Pearce, R Cox, A Haddon (Marcus Humphrey 60); C Hyam.
