De Cymru & Marches Division One
Bristol University B 2 Wotton-under-Edge 6
WOTTON made if four wins out of four so far this season as they hit Bristol University for six.
The hosts started very strongly and took the lead with an early goal from Ryan Howarth, who slotted into the bottom corner off a short corner.
Wotton were showing off to the young university lads, transferring the ball at a fast pace the whole way up the pitch.
The build-up play was fluid but a few missed opportunities meant the score stayed at 1-0 for the first 20 minutes.
Finally Matt Fairburn easily beat the keeper and found the backboard to make it 2-0.
Just before half-time Fairburn glided the ball into the bottom corner with an incredible first time reverse hit.
Wotton stamped their authority over the Bristol students in the first moments of the second half, with an impressive diving reverse stick tackle from captain Alistair Hammond, and a goal from Rob Davies, who powered the ball into the side-netting to make it 4-0.
Wotton then took their foot off the gas and almost let Bristol back into the game.
As soon as Bristol scored, there was a quick counter attack and Howarth scored, making it 5-1 to Wotton.
A slight lack of concentration by Wotton towards the end of the game gave Bristol Uni the chance to score once more, however Chris Price settled it to make the final score 6-2.
MOM: Rob Davies and Dave Newns
