THE Stroud Half Marathon Saw a great turnout for Dursley Running Club with 21 runners competing.

Kevin Jackson was in the leading group of three Dursley runners over the start line, his partners being Hayden Smith and Braddan Johnson.

By the time they reached Whitminster, Smith led the Dursley contingent.

Johnson was within spitting distance of Smith and Joe Browning, running well, had both in his sights but Jackson was slightly off the pace.

Smith and Johnson managed to extend their lead on Browning and Jackson over the mentally and physically challenging final miles, both finishing in sub 90 minutes with Smith 78th and Johnson 84th overall.

Behind the men it was a close race to be first Dursley woman home, with the evergreen Alice Lewis coming home first in 01:44:46, just 27 seconds ahead of Liz Anderson, who has now really got the running bug and this performance was great reward for her efforts in recent months.

Margaret Johnson was a mere 24 seconds a drift of Anderson but was consoled with a personal best on the day.

The club saw nine runners achieve personal bests on the day.

These included Margaret Johnson, Alice Lewis, Fran Amigoni, Richard Hensman, Brad Johnson, Rachael Johnson, Anderson, Shona Darley and Chris Young.

Darley struggled with hip problems over the final three miles, but nursed herself over the line and was rewarded with a PB.
