Gloucestershire County League

Bristol Telephones 3 Frampton United 3

IN THE only County League game to beat the weather on Saturday, Bristol Telephones and Frampton United claimed a point each after a very exiting draw.

Considering the amount of rain that had fallen during the morning the pitch played very well.

Frampton had the advantage of the wind in the first half but Telephones' Martin Blacker who tested keeper Scott Gearon in the second minute of the game.

At the other end Kris Bulley’s shot was well saved by the home keeper.

Play evened out until the 39th minute when Frampton broke the deadlock.

The ball had been knocked into a crowded goalmouth and in the scramble Bulley lifted the ball over the keeper.

Frampton pushed the home side hard and the pressure paid off with a second goal on 42 minutes when Nathan Dennis drove a 25-yard free kick into the Telephones net.

The home side had the wind advantage in the second half but failed to breakthrough the visitors' defence.

Dhani Golding struck the crossbar with a screamer on 54 minutes.

The home side made the breakthrough in the 70th minute when Adam Gregory sent over a corner from the right and a bullet header from Golding flew into the Frampton net.

In the 82nd minute and against the run of play Frampton were gifted a third goal.

The ball came to Pierce Bryne, who attempted to pass the ball back to his keeper but had not realised he had moved off his line and the ball slipped into the net. A brilliant interchange of passes between Ryan Hicks and Jack Fillingham almost brought a second goal for Telephones but Gearon brought of a tremendous save to deny Hicks.

All looked lost for the home side, but in the 89th minute they scored a second from a long free kick into the box, where Mike Grist headed home.

The home side salvaged a point three minutes into time added on.

This also came from a free kick that was hit long to the far post, where Grist rose to head back across goal and past Gearon.
