BEN Morgan is adamant a fitter and more experienced England has what it takes to take down the best teams in the world, insisting there is no better place to prove it than this weekend at Twickenham against South Africa.

The Gloucester No.8 earned his 24th Red Rose cap on Saturday as England were convincingly beaten for the fourth time this year by the All Blacks.

England could not capitalise on a positive start when Jonny May went over for the hosts inside three minutes, and were largely pegged back in the second half with the world champions dominating possession en route to a 24-21 triumph.

But former Dursley player Morgan is not ready to hit the panic button any time soon and insists England are still on a learning curve and will be ready for another tough test when South Africa come to Rugby HQ this weekend.

“We know what we're up against with South Africa having had the tour (in 2012) there before,” said the 25-year-old.

”We need to use our smarts, move them around and take advantage of the mismatches.

“I think we've come a long way since that tour. I’m certainly more experienced and have learnt a lot of lessons through winning and losing.

“That comes with experience but also being in this environment having a lot of coaching has also improved that.

”Sure the weekend just gone we needed to be more ruthless and clinical and finish our opportunities, but we showed that we can create those chances.

”We have enough in our armoury to be able to take apart the top teams so we've just got to be clinical and finish it.”

England are without a win against the Springboks in 11 matches, in a run of ten defeats with one draw that stretches all the way back to 2006.

And Morgan admitted the poor run of form against the Springboks is something England are desperate to put right on Saturday, with fitness a key factor for Stuart Lancaster’s men.

“We don't want to lose any game,” he added. “That first tour to South Africa was a real learning curve for us but we took a lot of confidence out of the tour to New Zealand, which was a real eye opener.

“They showed that they were able to spark something from nothing, which they've showed in a lot of matches, and go and get that try late in the game.

“Their fitness is obviously very good, and it highlights in the international game you have to be even fitter.

“We know South Africa are a big physical team and they like to use that route one pretty well but we just need to think about what we do.

“Against New Zealand we created enough chances to go out and win that game but we just weren't clinical enough.

”This will be very much the same. We want to play our shape and get moving that ball around, and get them running around the field chasing us.

”I think if we can do that then we'll take our opportunities and come out on top.”
