YATE TOWN 0 TIVERTON TOWN 0

YATE Town are sixth in the league after they continued the unbeaten run with a goal-less draw against some tough opposition from Tiverton Town.

It leaves Town just nine points off leaders Stratford Town but having played 19 games, more than a few other sides above and below them.

And an acrobatic goal-line clearance from Mitch Tippins helped Yate gain that point, but an injury he suffered cast a shadow on great entertainment at Lodge Road.

The match was stopped for a while as Tippins received treatment for what has turned out to be a dislocated shoulder and damaged clavicle bone that may need surgery.

Tippins had done well through a match that Yate bossed in the first-half but Tiverton's strong defence were very hard to break down, resulting in Yate trying to get goals via long range shots. Lewis blazed over from a clearance off a corner and Staley fired over from just outside the box.

Rogers had a glorious opportunity to add to his lethal goal-scoring tally over the last few games as great play down the wing from Staley saw him put the ball into the path of Rogers but the Yate marksman could only watch as his shot was brilliantly saved by the Tivvy goalkeeper to keep the scoreboard empty.

Indeed, the Tivvy goalkeeper was in fine form and again made a brilliant save on the stroke of half-time, this time when a Jackson header which into the top corner was pushed over the bar.

And Jackson should of put Yate in front ten minutes into the second-half. Staley fired a free kick low and hard which was saved but put into the path of the Yate man who had a free goal to aim at but he could only fire it at the keeper.

Tiverton nearly went ahead though against the run of play, the ball heading for the bottom corner but Tippins made his acrobatic overhead clearance to keep the ball out yet suffered his horrible injury as a result.

When play was resumed, Yate continued to try and put the ball in the net but Tiverton's strong back four and excellent keeping thwarted any chances that the home side created.
