It’s really exciting for the club at the moment.

The LV County Championship form has been amazing with two wins (v Essex and Lancashire)  and a win (v Middlesex) and a loss by just six runs (to Sussex) in the NatWest T20 Blast.

It’s shaping up to be an excellent year.

If we can keep putting in performances like we have done and scrapping hard then we will have a good season.

Against Sussex we weren’t at our best but were only six runs away.

If we play to our best against Essex at the Bristol County Ground on Sunday there is no doubt in my mind we can win.

Michael Klinger coming back will give us a huge boost, he’s another powerful batsman with a very experienced head and it’s exciting – the team only gets stronger with him being available.

Essex have their stars but I’m not sure who’s available – I don’t know whether Ryan Ten Doeschate is still around or Ravi Bopara is back from the IPL.

It was lovely to get a game in the T20 Blast against my old club Sussex.

I was disappointed not to play in the first game against Middlesex but to get the nod and put in a performance (3-24) was good.

There are a few things I picked up from watching (Sussex Sharks spinners) Michael Yardy and Will Beer and hopefully moving on to the next game against Essex I can take that with me and hopefully squeeze even more through those middle overs.

It is things like the changes of pace and subtle variations they both bowled with. Yardy is an ex-England bowler and Beer is a very accomplished T20 player so you just try and learn as much as you can.

It was very disappointing to fall six runs short.

We knew going into the game that the middle overs would be a crucial part of the match and unfortunately we lost too many wicket at that point.

Jack Taylor played a wonderful innings at the end which got us pretty close but I think that flattered us a bit.

I think if we’d got a few more through the middle and left Jack less to do at the end we could have come out on the other side of the game.

There is a lot of confidence in the dressing room at the moment and we are looking forward to putting on a good performance for fans against Essex this Sunday.

The NatWest Blast match v Essex this Sunday starts at 2.30pm and is the club’s T20 Family Day. For ticket information go to www.gloscricket.co.uk
