Friendly. Kingswood Village (183) vs Pencombe (207-8).
WELCOME tourists Pencombe, returning to their Herefordshire home from their Devon tour, stopped off at Kingswood Village to again play the home side and once more beat hosts but this time by a much smaller margin.

In a start briefly delayed by rain, Pencombe`s 143-1 by the half way 20 over mark seemed the prelude to a big total. George Godsell (33), Owen Thomas (76), James Brown (31) and soon after Ernie Price (14) and Ted Thomas (18)  sorely tried Kingswood`s attack.

The second and third wickets at 143 (Thomas) and 148 (Al Davies for 0 ), both big century makers in previous encounters, revised the total.

Both fell to veteran Dave Richardson`s maiden 5-28 for the club. This and another veteran Vince Taylor`s 2-15 put paid to Pencombe`s chances of a high total, the innings closing at 207-8.

Regrouping from the early loss off Ken Wood, Kevin Morgan (45) and Rory Thomas (50) kept Kingswood in the hunt until Ernie Price`s off spin (4-28) cut down the middle order.

Though the gallantly late entry of skipper Ben Foxwell at number eight with a brisk 27* threatened victory, his tail end partners did not survive, leaving Kingswood on 183-9, 25 runs short of victory.

Pratt 20 over cup. Oldbury  on Severn (110 a.o.) vs Kingswood Village (190-6). Wed 1 July 2015.

TWO unbeaten Pratt Cup sides, Oldbury and Kingswood, met in a crucial title match, fought by both at close to nine runs an over until one succumbed to the pressure of the asking rate.

Visitors Kingswood, batting first, set the pace. Thanks to Kevin Morgan (35) and Mike Colburn (36) they took the Oldbury bowlers, who included a significant number of Rockhampton players, for 73-2 off the first seven overs.

Andy Chandler (2-19) briefly slowed Kingswood to 85-4 off 10 but an elegant 31* from Tony Green and a 19* blast from Rory Thomas gave Kingswood a total of 190-6, helped by 36 extras, including 27 wides.

Oldbury`s response was almost as rapid, reaching 57-2 off seven overs through S. Phelps (17) and C. Terrett (27), both wickets to Iain Green (2-30).

At 91-4 off 11 the chase was still on but by this time the pressure of a 100 run requirement off nine overs and the nagging cut and seam of Chas Walwin was doing damage. His 4-9, Vince Taylor`s 2-12 off the their three overs apiece and Ben Foxwell`s 2-6 off 10 balls brought an abrupt collapse to 110 all out with four overs still left, a Kingswood win by 80 runs.

By the time this report goes to print the final games will have been played the night before. Out of the five sides in the tournament, technically three can lift the cup.
