Cam 148ao lost to Westbury on Severn 151-3 by seven wickets
OPENER Adam Holloway hit 63, but could not halt Cam’s slide to defeat against Westbury on Severn last Saturday.
An unbeaten 83 from Westbury’s Jon Tegg was the deciding factor as Cam were handed a seven-wicket defeat.
Uneven bounce early on resulted in many false shots being played and this eventually led to Pete Hall’s dismissal on 22 as a ball from Hargreaves kept low.
Two balls later, Mike Glover was early on a ball which was caught at mid-on.
A diving catch from Tegg removed Newman for 11 and left Cam 82-3.
Ed Paddock showed intent to move the scoreboard on but was caught by Anderson.
With wickets falling around him, Holloway passed 50 for the first time this season.
Joined by his brother Ben, the Holloways added another 20 to the total before Adam was eventually dismissed from a caught and bowled by Alex Wyman for 63.
Wyman finished with figures of 3-8 as he cleaned up the Cam tail.
The Westbury innings faltered at the beginning as George Dolling bowled Hargeaves for four in the opening over.
Ian Dunn joined Tegg in the middle and took an immediate liking to the bowling of Dolling and Longden, while the introduction of Hall and Ben Holloway did not change anything.
Hall eventually broke the partnership as Dunn was caught by Adam Holloway. Pearson fell soon after as he was stumped by Dolbear off the same bowler.
Dan Anderson (31) supported Tegg as he passed 50 and manipulated any gap in the field.
With the runs gradually being knocked off, a plethora of different bowlers had a go at trying to break the partnership, but to no avail as Tegg finished 83 not out, seeing Westbury home.
