THE SUNSHINE certainly encouraged some very good scores across all competitions held Cotswold Edge Golf Club this week.

The Junior Open which gives youngsters from other clubs the chance to play our course, in a stroke play competition, saw home player Alex Godfree score a gross 71 (boys) and Laura Whittard from Minchinhampton Old score 86 (girls). 

The best nett was won by Frankie Lin 67 (Tewkesbury) followed by Haydn Burford 70 (Forest Hills) and Jessica Brown 71 (Cirencester).  Harrison Wheeler won the best 9 holes stableford with a score of 16 points.

The Seniors August Medal was well supported with several under par scores being recorded – Division 1: Pete Peachey nett 66, Ken Hibbitt 68 & Pete Teasdale 69; Division 2: Alan Long 72, Keith Dancer 72 & Mike Ward 73.  The Senior’s also celebrated a home win against Lilley Brook 4.5 – 1.5.

Arthur Spencer returned an impressive under par round of nett 64 to win the Ellerncroft Trophy in the stroke play competition.  All divisions returned good scores – Division 1: Steve Devaney nett 69, Simon Craker 71 & Terry Pearce 72; Division 2: Arthur Spencer 64, Richard Brown 66 & Pete Burnage 67; Division 3: Karl Traynor 67, Barry Roberts 70 & Stephen Mayer 71.

The Ladies Alliance teams had mixed fortunes this week with Alliance 1 losing 11 – 3 at home to Cotswold Hills but the Alliance 2 faired much better winning away 11 – 3 to Gloucester.
