SLIMBRIDGE goalkeeper Dave Evans has suffered the heartbreak of a serious injury just weeks into the club’s biggest ever season in the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West
Evans was stretchered off the Wisloe Road pitch towards the end of Slimbridge’s 4-0 defeat to Yate Town on Saturday.
And the club have confirmed that he has suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon and will face an operation this week to repair the damage.
It means a lengthy lay-off for the Swans star and means that Adam Thomas will take over in goal for the club, beginning with the tough FA Cup Preliminary Round assignment at Egham Town on Saturday.
A club statement said: “All at SAFC wish Dave a speedy recovery”.
