SLIMBRIDGE RBL and The Bowmen fought out the first draw of the season, the result seeing the latter move off the foot of the table in Week 14 of the Slimbridge Front Pin Summer Skittle League.
Despite trailing by 14-pins after the third leg of the first half, Slimbridge RBL found there feet and took a single pin advantage at the end of the sixth leg. Two steady final legs saw them not only hold off the challenge of the Bowmen but extend their advantage, the Bowmen falling 8-pins short.
The second half saw Slimbridge RBL continue where they left off; Phil Coole hitting a 15-spare as they extended their lead.
Holding an 8-pin second half advantage after the fourth leg, it looked as if Slimbridge RBL could be set to take maximum points for the first time this season.
Entering the last leg the Bowmen lead the half by a single pin; with Slimbridge RBL holding a 7-pin advantage on the game.
Sue Coole hit a score of 7 in her total of 57 and Slimbridge RBL scored 18; leaving the Bowmen needing 26 to take the game.
Both Stuart Murdoch and Alan Dimery scored 52, hitting scores of 8 and 7 respectively in the final leg as they fell a single pin short of their target as both teams earned 3-points.
With the Geriatrics game against The Dons postponed Snorts FC had the opportunity to take top spot, and this the achieved with an 82-pin victory over Shake Hands.
The former struggled to find any form as Snorts FC took a first leg lead which they never relinquished. With Steve Brown hitting 60 they won every leg in the first half to claim a 53-pin advantage.
The second half followed a similar pattern as Snorts FC moved ahead quickly, after four legs they held a 29-pin advantage.
Mike Sims hit a 9-spare in his total of 49 whilst Tony Trotman recorded a 14-spare as Shake Hands looked to reduce the deficit; however a 13-spare from Peter Clutterbuck ensured that Snorts FC retained their advantage as they won the half by 29-pins overall.
