Gloucestershire County League
Division One
Frampton 126-4 beat Charlton Kings 124 ao by six wickets

FRAMPTON are in seventh place in the Gloucestershire County League Division One with just one last game to play this weekend after they overhauled basement side Charlton Kings by six wickets.
On a very green wicket Charlton Kings chose to bat and soon regretted the decision losing Ed Cutler bowled by Matt Cayless for two.
The pain continued with John Wilkinson spooning one up to Tom Warren at short mid-wicket off Cayless for a duck, bringing Graeme Weery to the wicket.
Dan Huxstep was unplayable from the pavilion end and with three maidens out of his five overs, he claimed his first wicket having Weery caught close in by brother Jason for five.
With the score on 10-3 off 11 overs, Kai Wilikinson and Ben Roberts had a mammoth task on their hands to post a good total.
Both played sensibly with Wilkinson playing the leading way but he was caught on the boundary by Sam North off the spin of young Liam Harper for 23.
Captain Chris Burrow lost Roberts, caught behind for 13, and Ryan Attwood in quick succession to give Harper a three-wicket haul.
Burrow and Tom Hayward ramped up the run rate both clearing the boundary with good shots but on his return spell Dan Huxstep demolished Hayward’s stumps for a good 21.
And 107-7 turned into 124 all out with the highlight being Jack Curtis taking a stunning one-handed low catch at point to remove Burrow for a top score of 52 and end Charlton Kings’ resistance as Huxstep finished with incredible figures of nine overs, six maidens 3-4, while Harper had 3-29 from his nine overs.
In reply, Sam North and Zubair Saleh opened up against Lloyd Arkell and Marcus Edwards.
Both enjoyed some success but Zaleh was first to fall caught by Attwood behind the sticks for 10.
Jason Huxstep took his opportunity and powered the ball to the boundary on several occasions before he heard the clatter of the stumps off the bowling of Cuttler for 23.
North was caught in the 16th over and with the rain coming Tom Warren was caught off the spin of Tom Haywood bringing the game to a temporary halt with the score on a 64-4.
Thankfully it was only a short sharp shower and the game continued with Cayless (30no) and Dan Huxstep (28no) needing to push on.
Experience showed from both of them and with the drizzle falling, they wrapped the game up in double-quick time to take the win by six wickets in the 32nd over.
Ed Cuttler took 2-23 for Charlton Kings who probably would have wished that this was not the only Division One game to end in a result.
