THREE of Dursley Running Club's triathletes were in action at the Cotswold Classic Triathlon last Sunday.

The event takes in a 1900 meter swim followed by a 90km Bike course finishing with a half marathon. Ray Williams was first out of the water for Dursley in just over 33 minutes with Rob Woodward hot on his tail under a minute and half behind. Andy Kilby was out in 40.22 almost two minutes quicker than his 2014 swim.

Williams extended his lead on Woodward by 2 minutes on the bike his transition saw him lose 45 seconds of this. As the heavens opened Williams continued to pull away, eventually finishing almost a quarter of an hour in front, completing the course in just over 5 hours.

Woodward was rewarded for his efforts with a first in his category, whilst Kilby could be satisfied with improvement in his times across all disciplines.

* Rebecca Topham and Laura Price completed their first triathlons for some time, travelling to the Geopark Torbay Standard Distance triathlon.

At 8am the two women found themselves in sea at Goodrington, ready for the 1.5 km two lap sea swim. Price was out of the water and onto the bike first, but Topham was only a couple of minutes behind.

The bike leg was an unrelenting 42 km of long uphill slogs and technical descents and legs were burning by the time of the last hill. Price maintained her lead to be first out onto the 12 km run.  Topham, the stronger runner, caught Price at roughly the half way point of the outward section.

In fine Dursley tradition she then slowed her pace so that they crossed the finishing line together to place joint 2nd in their category.

* The Kingsway Park Run on the 22nd saw new Dursley speedster Neil Hodgson place 7th overall and 2nd MV40, with Mike Froggatt next in and 1st MV50, Julie Froggatt was 2nd FV50 with Becky Carr making her debut at Kingsway finishing in just under 34 minutes. Annette Heylings ran at Chipping Sodbury Park Run finishing in 28:57 and first FV60.

Results; Neil Hodgson, 7th, 19:15, (2nd VM40-44); Michael Froggatt, 22nd, 22:20, (1st VM50-54); Julie Froggatt, 80th, 26:51:00, (2nd VW50-54); Rebecca Carr, 138th, 33:52.

* Rachel Goatman, completed the Torquay Regatta 10K on the 23rd, running a personal best by 5 minutes she finished 512th (14th FV50) in 01:06:22
