WOTTON were unable to build on the momentum of last week’s 5-0 triumph as they were narrowly edged out of this cup tie by a spirited Avon side.
Avon scored first and then, despite good defensive work from Denny Philips, Sam Morris, Toby Harris and Jonny Hayward, hit their second on the break. 
Following half-time, Wotton seemed a different team, and Avon were penned into their half. 
Eddie Hawkins scored a fine solo effort, and succinct passing from the  midfield of Hayden Brewer, Matthew Welch and Toby Harris fed shot after shot from forwards Harrison Brain, Ewan Hadfield and Harvey Butler.
Sadly, their efforts were to no avail, although Wotton left with their pride intact.
