Wimbourne 0 Slimbridge 3

THE SWANS dedicated this win against Wimborne Town in Dorset to Cameron Hutchinson, the 24 year old who lost his brave battle with terminal cancer on Friday, a minutes silence was impeccably observed before kick off.

It took just three minutes for the visitors to take the lead, good work by Jack Twyman on the right allowed top scorer Paul Fahy to add to his tally, lobbing the ball over keeper Jason Harvell from 18 yards out.

On a very heavy pitch, both sides were finding the going tough but it was the Swans who were adapting better to the conditions.

Sean Lawson looked to have been bundled over in the box after 12 minutes but referee James Robinson waved play on.

Wimborne's best chance of the half came when Luke Holmes found himself with space in the box but he fluffed his chance when he failed to shoot first time, allowing the swans defence to clear.

On 22 minutes, Adam Mace had an excellent shot which rebounded back into play off the woodwork after good work from Lawson down the left.

However, the dynamic midfielder did not have to wait long to get himself on the scoresheet when in the 29th minute a good cross from Twyman was well controlled by Mace, drilling the ball home from 15 yards out.

The first caution of the game came on 38 minutes when Wimborne's Jamie Davidson went in late on Swans keeper Adam Thomas.

Right on half time Carl Preston had a good chance to pull a goal back for the hosts but he shot high and wide.

The Swans started the second half strongly and sealed the game in the 50th minute when excellent play on the left by Lawson who cut in past two defenders and crossed for Mace to side foot home at the far post for his second goal of the match.

Adam Thomas did well to get to a good shot from Preston, tipping the ball over for a corner as Wimborne tried to get back into the game.

Paul Fahy was unlucky in the 66th minute when he saw his shot from the edge of the penalty area hit the woodwork.

The Swans were controlling proceedings now and a good corner from Alex Parrott found Ciaran Greening's head but the central defender's effort went just wide.

On 83 minutes a Dean Turner pass found Sam Babatunde run at the home defence but his shot failed to reach the target.

Slimbridge comfortably saw the rest of the game out to bring the three points back to Gloucestershire, they now move up to 11th in the League Table and look forward to a Local Derby against Bishops Cleeve at Wisloe Road on Saturday, 3pm.
