Dursley Town 3 Berkeley Town 3

BERKELEY were left stunned as derby rivals Dursley came from three goals down – and two behind with 11 minutes left – to claim a draw at the Rec on Saturday.

Former Dursley players Aaron Nash, with two, and Jack Minett gave the Hunters a three-goal lead, but Alex Griffith, Jay Redbond and Ben Matthews hit back in style.

Nash put the visitors into a 25th-minute lead when he raced onto a flick from a long ball forward and fired his shot across goalkeeper Pete Dykes and into the corner.

Just three minutes later, home defender Steve Hobbs failed to clear a long throw and Minett claimed the final touch as he and Griffith lunged for the ball close in.

And it was three to the Hunters just five minutes after that as Nash was allowed to play on despite looking suspiciously offside and he again beat the exposed Dykes.

Dursley desperately needed something before half-time and they got it when Griffith got in on the left and his cross sailed over goalkeeper Pete Lavis and into the net.

Nash was denied what would have been a killer fourth with 15 minutes remaining and instead Redbond cut the deficit to one with a fierce shot four minutes later.

And almost immediately the home side had their equaliser as centre-back Matthews rose to send a bullet header past Lavis from fellow substitute Martin Booth’s corner.
