The Marches 2

Wotton B (3rds) 3 Lansdown C 1

WOTTON-under-Edge thirds remain in a head-to-head with Lansdown B at the top of the Marches 2 division, but they were given a bit of a test to ensure they retained their unbeaten record on Saturday.

It was not the game Wotton were expecting against the other side from Landsdown, the bottom of the league C side.

The first half was played at high tempo by Wotton, who constantly pressed into the Lansdown half and final third.

However, balls into the D were few and far between and not many shots were made on goal, relief came however from a short corner, which was passed across goal to be converted by David Holt.

In the second half Wotton started slowly and the ball was played up and down the pitch more, but Lansdown were still unable to work Wotton keeper Dan Dyson. Another short corner was converted for Wotton by Sam Butter who struck the ball well from close range between the keeper’s legs.

The best chance fell to Lansdown when they broke through for a one-on-one against Wotton’s goalie, but Dyson kicked the shot clear.

A goal came from Chris Barton.

In the closing stages Lansdown converted a short corner.
