Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division One
Taverners 3 Dursley Town 0
DURSLEY suffered a setback to their mini-revival – although they continue to show signs of improvement despite this defeat in tough conditions at high-flying Taverners.
After a 3-3 draw against Berkeley Town recently, Dursley could not keep up the momentum.
Town’s inexperienced front pair of Bruno Goncalves and Alex Griffth were lively during the opening half, although Tavs scored the only goal at the 35-minute mark.
With the visitors pushing for an equaliser they were caught on the break several times, but goalkeeper Pete Dykes had a superb game to keep his side in contention.
However, a driven cross went in off Taverners old boy Jay Redbond for number two with 15 minutes to play and a third goal at the death was harsh on Lee Thomas’ side.
Dursley: P Dykes; B Matthews, C Wilkins, M Workman; S Hobbs, J Dolbear, M Booth, A Baker, J Redbond; A Griffith (T Deakin 70), B Goncalves. Not Used: S Pearson, K Watson.
* Dursley Reserves were beaten 5-1 at their Quedgeley counterparts in Division Two of the Stroud League, while the third team again failed to raise a side for their Division Five match away to Barnwood Reserves.
* Dursley Ladies’ prestigious County Cup tie against Forest Green Rovers Ladies was postponed because of waterlogged pitches at both club’s venues.
