CITY face the sternest of tests on Saturday as table-topping Hull City are the visitors to Ashton Gate in a game that is being screened live on Sky Sports (12.30pm).

The Tigers have enjoyed an excellent start to the season as they attempt to win promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

This start has primarily been based on a rock-solid defence that hasn’t conceded a goal in 512 minutes of Championship football. If that record can be extended beyond 600 with a clean sheet on Saturday then it would be a club record for Steve Bruce’s side.

It is little surprise Hull are so strong at the back with Michael Dawson and Curtis Davies both having extensive experience playing in the top-flight.

The talent in the Hull team doesn’t end there though. Up front they have £10 million signing Abel Hernandez who has already scored 8 goals this season, and in midfield they boast the likes of Mohamed Diame and Egyptian international Amhed Elmohamady.

They have won five games in a row and are twelve unbeaten in all competitions, which includes two wins over Premier League opposition in the League Cup.

Despite being in the same league as them it would be fair to say there is a gulf in quality between the Hull squad and Citys. Due to their stint in the top flight and subsequent parachute payments Hull are able to afford the best players in the Championship.

That said their run of form will have to end sometime and City have been better at the back recently themselves keeping 4 clean sheets in the last 6 games. It will take a big effort to topple the league leaders but we definitely have a chance if we play to our potential and get a bit of luck along the way.
