De Cymru & The Marches 2 League

Wotton A 2 Cheltenham B 7

WOTTON A knew they were going into a tough game and tried to ensure they were fired up for the match.

Unfortunately, some wayward passing and failure to retain the ball led to them being under pressure from the start.

Against the run of play, a slick move saw Darren Pearce square the ball to Chris Price who fired the ball goal bound.

Man of the Match Steven Dexter was on hand to deceive the keeper with a deft touch to give Wotton the lead.

The following minutes of the first half reverted back to Wotton struggling to keep the wolves from the door with some new Cheltenham faces running riot.

Two quick goals saw the boys in blue trailing 2-1 at the break, and the second- half saw Wotton trailing 4-1 before finding the backboard again, this time through a Sam Willcox goal.

Despite a strong work rate, Wotton struggled to cope with the fluid movement of the opposition and slipped to their first home defeat on the New Road pitch losing 7-2.

They look to bounce back this week with an away trip at Cardiff.
